When I opened up the package that the sweet girls over at Style Tribe gifted me and saw this striped jumpsuit, I knew immediately how I wanted to feature it! Given my petite stature, the additional fabric on the top of this jumpsuit which was meant to be a loose front tie at the waist, created a bit of a challenge for me. However, I rarely struggle to find a clever and classy solution and with a little twist, it became a fitted back tie! I then added my favorite metal belt for even more definition at the waist and for that touch of evening glam!
If you know me, then you know I have SERIOUS time management issues….. que my #1 goal for 2019……. ……………… 1. Be better at time management! UGH. So, last night at approximately 5:30pm, I frantically scooped up my boys and my camera and we were out like a flash to find a spot in town before there was complete darkness. It was so very cold, brrrrrrrrr, but thankfully it worked out beautifully, and was totally worth it! Of course, nothing I am wearing outside of the jumpsuit is new or current but I’ll be sure to add similar items below if you’d like to recreate this look!
Striped Jumpsuit (Style Tribe) Belt (ASOS sold out) other options: 1, 2, 3 Jacket (Vintage) similar options: 1, 2, 3 Leopard Clutch (old from SIC Couture) similar: 1, 2 Shoes (Sam Edelman) similar options: 1, 2
1 skirt 5 ways: If you are anything like me, versatile pieces take up a large part of your wardrobe! I need my clothes to take me through each season if possible, so I can mix and match to create new looks all the time! I tend to hold onto my clothes for years so I really look for items that can work hard for me and that flatter my petite 5’2 figure.
When I found this rust colored corduroy skirt with buttons, I knew I had to have it! There is just something about this color that calls my name! This length of skirt really helps me feel as tall as possible and this one especially feels sophisticated, fun, and is SO versatile! I could have done 10, 15, 25 looks or MORE, honestly! I am really looking forward to styling this skirt a TON this fall! I’m not a celebrity, so there’s no “one and done” around here when it comes to fashion! 😉 When I love something, I wear it like crazy!
SO, here it is: 1 skirt, 5 ways.
DAY: BRUNCH//ERRANDS//SCHOOL FUNCTIONS//The sky is the limit! And this would also be adorable with a black bag and a pair of kicks like these
LISA’S FALL DAILY UNIFORM: That’s right. THIS was the first thing I put together when I got this skirt and as soon as I put it on, I fell madly in love! This is so me, and something I will wear OFTEN, with MANY variations! I just ordered 4 new tops ( here and here and here and here ) and I am super excited to pair at least a few of them with this versatile skirt!
NIGHT: DATE NIGHT//GIRLS NIGHT…… Full disclosure, I put this together in a pinch after scrapping my first idea and while it isn’t my favorite (due to me not thinking it through enough, and forgetting that I was going to slide the skirt over to make the buttons be on the side (SUPER CUTE by the way), I love how easy it pairs with black and of course I am obsessed with my earrings and bracelet from one of my very favorite local small businesses, BOXX JEWELRY. I can envision SO many date night variations with this skirt and intend to try them out for sure! Just imagine…….black booties like these: here and here , with a cute black bodysuit like one of these: here and here and here , and a black leather jacket: here and here …………Y E S!!!!!!
SO, go and grab this skirt or a similar one and put your spin on it! If you post a picture to Instagram, use the hashtag #thefamilyof3styleinspo and @thefamilyof3 in your caption for a chance to win a little Fall gift! 😉
Thanks for hanging out today! I can’t wait to see what you put together!

Welcome Spring – Transitioning your look with colorful, statement making accessories.
Oh Spring….. you have my heart! Cool days, bright sunshine, green grass, flowers, and patios…… it is the perfect season, if you ask me! A few days ago, I met my bestie Jess for one of these cool, bright, patio enjoying days! Cupcakes and coffee, yes please!! BIRD Bakery is just the cutest! A yummy almond milk vanilla latte, my DIVINE gluten free vanilla cupcake, one of my very favorite people, and an adorable patio….. I was (and AM) SOLD!! I’ll drive to Dallas every day for that, thank you!! I won’t lie though….. watching Troy Aikman walk right in front of me as I parked my car was a fun perk too! 🙂
We were even able to squeeze in a few photos after cupcakes, with my new camera…. Hello Canon! My Nikon has been very good to me, but after 10 years I decided to make a switch I have dreamt about for at least, half of my career!
One of my favorite parts about Spring is adding new, fun, and colorful accessories, with my seasonal (still a bit chilly outside) outfits! For this look, I immediately knew I had to wear my newest teal, fringe earrings! I’m only sad that this color isn’t available for you guys right now…. but I am linking LOTS of beautiful options that are all in the same style! If you ever need accessory help, I am SO your girl!! (*Internet shopping fanatic*) (oooops) lol
Besides having my camera turned on me, thank you Jess (She’s so awesome!!!)…… I also shot her cool/cute look for the day! She is seriously SO gorgeous, and always puts the coolest looks together! If you’re new here…. she is a designer, stylist, and online boutique owner….and you HAVE to get to know her! She is doing it all, and is the quintessential #momboss and my true blue soul sister!! <3
I’ll admit it, Galentine’s Day which is celebrated on February 13th, hasn’t always meant very much to me until this year. It’s amazing how connected we become to those we surround ourselves with once we truly find OURSELVES!! I won’t make this too long and sappy, (because I’m saving that for another blog post 😉 ) but I will say that when you find your tribe, your girls, your squad, or whatever you call them….. embrace them, support them, encourage them, love them, and fan those flames and watch those relationships grow!
American Greetings gave me such a wonderful opportunity this year, to really highlight what “Galentine’s Day” means to me and for that I am so thankful! I had already scheduled a day date with a very dear gal pal and decided to enlist her help in showing how special these cards really are! And because of American Greetings‘ generosity, I’ll be adding a couple of their adorable cards to my Galentine’s Giveaway that I am announcing tomorrow!!
For me: Galentine’s Day is about celebrating your girls and what they mean to you. It doesn’t have to be big and spendy, you don’t have to throw a party or do a fancy dinner out….. just a card to tell them how much you care, or how much they make you laugh, or how needed they are in your life!
While I have always liked gingham…. I didn’t know I was obsessed until I spotted this skirt. You may have heard me talk about my love for SIC Couture in Dallas, but did you know that SIC Couture is a brand made in NYC, not just a boutique? I always count myself extra lucky when I can nab one of her pieces and this skirt was a huge score for my wardrobe! I already have a million ideas of what I want to pair it with and I know it’s going to get a ton of wear!
If you’re into sales…. (who isn’t) 😉 and are scoping out Black Friday sales, you won’t want to miss hers! 50% OFF REGULAR PRICED ITEMS!!! Wed-Fri until 2pm, using code THANKYOU and 3 steals and deals sections featuring items marked down to: $15, $25, $35
That means this gingham beauty will only cost you: $53.58 with tax! I bought it for more and don’t even feel sad about this! I’m just glad I have one! (Wearing a small, for reference).
I am going to call this one of my life highlights. A blip of time that shined for me and felt really special. I was a guest on a podcast. A podcast called ‘Breakfast with Sis’. Two of my favorite people run this fun podcast, and it was such an honor to be on with them! We started the morning with a photography session to capture this adorable father/daughter duo for promotional purposes and it was so much fun! Here is the first sneak peek!!!
Once we finished the photo session, we headed back in to Chick-fil-A (have I mentioned their intense love for the Chick?) and had our breakfast before recording the podcast. It was truly, SO much fun, and I would love for you to check it out when you can! It’s a perfect listen for a workout, drive to work, or anytime you can spare about 50 minutes 😉 I think I may have the ‘on air’ bug, because I really, REALLY want to do it again! Breakfast with Sis – episode 31 with @Thefamilyof3
Alli K Design is such an incredible artist and it has been a whirlwind few years for her! Watching her grow this business and see her success has been incredibly fun! You should follow along, because who doesn’t love florals?! 😉
Around Town – An Interview with Very Betty in Prosper
Walking into this lovely boutique, you’ll immediately feel welcomed. Every nook and cranny carries items that entice. From the beautiful clothing in the front, to the great bags and jewelry created by local designers that is perfectly showcased. You walk through and find the fragrance you’ve been enjoying in the form of bath salts, lotions and candles. Gifts that would make anyone gleam. Then comes housewares, with texture and style, and even gifts for men! It’s the quintessential one stop shop! I had the pleasure of interviewing Very Bettys’ owner Evelyn, and it was so great to get an inside look into what makes Very Betty so special!
And GUESS WHAT?? Today, (Tuesday 9/29) they are having an incredible 75% off sidewalk sale!! GO!! RUN!!! I promise you’ll fall in love and find so much to bring home with you. 😉
When did you become interested in fashion? And what inspired you to open Very Betty?
As long as I can remember I liked fashion and I was always willing to take fashion risks and be different. I had a shop in Dallas and I wanted to open a store where one was needed and where I could inspire people to look and feel great.
Take us through a day in your life as a fashion entrepreneur….
A retail store is a business that requires a lot of creativity and hard work. I spend most of my days thinking about how to mix fashion, with quality, uniqueness and value while trying to provide great customer service in a comfortable atmosphere. There is a lot planning, inventory, bookkeeping and marketing to keep up with as well.
The boutique is based in Prosper, TX. What are some of the fashion trends you’ve taken note of in this town?
I have noticed that women dress casually while running around town but want to look fashionable when they are at work and socializing.
What are your three favorite things in Very Betty right now?
I love our local jewelry designer. She makes beautiful and unique pieces that can be worn casually and dressy. We have a T-shirt line that is comfortable to run around in but still has you looking dressed, stylish and ready to run into anyone. We have a washable silk line from Italy that can go from the office to a night out. It’s comfortable beautiful and great for travel!
What are some of the things you’re looking for when choosing a brand or collection to carry in the store?
I look for quality, versatility and affordability. Today a lot of fashion is inexpensive but I do not think that our target clientele should be wearing the same things that kids are wearing. I believe that one can still be appropriate and fashionable however better quality merchandise looks better and lasts longer. I love to keep my eye on the trends but I think you can add in trendy accessories that coordinate with more classic pieces.
Are there certain items that are always in demand at Very Betty?
We have a great collection of gifts and accessories that will fit any budget. Our customers know they can come by and we will have something that works for them. At Very Betty we always want our customers leaving with a cutely wrapped gift. They can also go home with a new outfit for their night out.
What are some of your goals for the future of Very Betty?
We are launching a Facebook Shop and working on pop up shops. I would like to get into home decor. Having pretty and comfortable surroundings makes for a better quality of life. I love looking for unusual and fun furnishings.
What are some trends we can expect to see in Very Betty this Fall and Winter?
This fall there is a lot of embellished clothing and red tones. There will be some of that however I like to use accessories for embellishment that way clothing is more timeless.
In April, we traveled to the stunning island of Malta for both work and family vacation time. We first stayed in Valletta, where we explored for 3 days. We then visited the beautiful city of Birgu, and the island of Gozo to see the remains of the once “Azure Window” and the stunning Wied il Ghasri. We also visited the awesome Playmobil factory and fun park in the town of Birzebbuga. Parents of kiddos, this place is a MUST when visiting Malta!
We moved to Sliema for the remainder of our trip and stayed at the Palace Hotel (stunning views), and took small trips throughout the city and just beyond, while there. One of the more awe-inspiring destinations was Mdina, which is also known as the “Silent City” . We loved wandering through the quiet streets, spotting sites that were filmed for Game of Thrones, and just enjoying the architecture. Malta was rich in history, rich in kindness, and rich in beauty. We will definitely be back!
“I’m blue da ba dee da ba daa, da ba dee da ba daa, da ba dee da ba daa”……. OK, ok, ok…. you get the point! Right? HA! Blue is my very favorite color and it just so happens that my new favorite pair of gladiator sandals goes with everything blue! AND BEYOND! I wanted to show these beautiful babes off with a quick photoshoot featuring some different summer outfits that look great with them! I have the ‘Blue Lime’ version of course, but if your favorite color is pink, then she has you covered with her ‘Crazy Candy’ version!
